Up at 9 for breakfast. Scrambled egss, beans, toast, ceral, fruit and loads of water. We will blow everyone off the pitch!
We had a team meeting and we are well fired up for this game. We know our Kennedy Cup could be over at 1.30 today and we are all determined that this is just not going to happen. You could see it in the eyes. We have worked too hard for this, made too many sacrifices. This has been a great week so far and we will do the business today.
We got down to the pitch and into the shade. Friday night in the AIT was never like this! We did a great warm up and had another chat. We will kill and die now for the cause.
The game itself was almost a blur. We battled and battled. We had to dig in at times in the first half against the wind but in the second half we took over. Again we had huge support. We heard it and felt it. This year’s Under-12’s are up for the day to get a taste for next year.
Eoin scored a great goal. It has to be goal of the tournament. Another goal for House 16. (It must be all the good cooking).
We were well worth the lead and might have scored again. But then with just minutes to go we conceded a penalty. Harsh (as Gerry McHugh might say). They equallised and we were shattered. We still had a chance to score again but it finished a draw and again we fell to a late, late equaliser. We could and should have 6 points. But we are still in this going into the last game. They are a good team, big and strong. They had a player who was the only one who would have got into a Nite Club. Aaron will have to go with him as he went everywhere else with him today.
However we now have a serious injury crisis!. What are we going to do now?
Terry O’Neill our Hon.Sec. pulled a calf muscle in celebrating Eoin’s goal. He is on crutches now but says he would do it all again for another goal tonight. The lads in House 17 are very worried. Who is going to look after them now?
After the game it was back to the Houses for a shower then off for some food and then to the swimming pool for a recovery session/ This is what it must be like to be a professional footballer.
We then went back to the house to get our gear and rest up. Plenty of fruit and water.
If anything it is getting hotter and hotter.
We headed up to the pitch in determined mood. We will need to win against Kildare.
Again we had huge support. The pitch is great and we are good to go.
The match was difficult. It was stop, start and never really flowed. We got to half time at 0-0. The other game was also scoreless so still all to play for.
We gave it everything but they scored a cheap goal mid way through the second half. It was a bad goal for us and they didn’t really have to work for it. We tried even harder but just could not get a goal. We did not give up but were caught with a second goal into injury time. That hurt because we did not deserve that. It didn’t matter as we were out and our third place finish puts us into the Shield quarter-final.
We are all very disappointed. We gave it our all but it was just not to be. Clive picked us up. We now move on and focus on the Shield. We are going to take something out of this. We then got word that it was Longford in the quarter-final tomorrow. That is just what we needed. A local derby.
It was a great day and an awful day. We did achieve all that we wanted but we did our best. This is a great competition and a great week. They told us it would be brilliant but nothing prepared us for this. Also Warren beat one of the Irish Ladies DARTS Team. She is supposed to be ranked No.6. She must be. She took two legs off him!
Tomorrow is another day in the Big Brother House!
