The draw for the 3rd Annual Futsal Tournament was made recently and appears in USEFUL DOCUMENTS section of this site. The tournament which is kindly sponsored by The Stacey Family will once again take place in the AIT gymnasium. The group stages will take place from Tuesday 5th January to Friday 8th January commencing each evening at 6pm. The Finals will take place on Thursday 14th January. All teams must be ready for action at least 15 minutes before their scheduled kick off time.

The local cup draws were held at an executive meeting on Tuesday 10 Nov in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel. It was decided to hold a cup competition for U10 North teams only and all other teams in the U10 Divisions will take part in a Shield competition. For more info, please read on ..................

“WHEN WE WERE KINGS” was recently published by Westmeath Independent editor Tadhg Carey recounting the story of Athlone Town’s 1924 FAI Cup triumph.
Among many other things, this book relates the story of brothers Jim & John Sweeney, both of whom should be immortalised in the pages of Athlone sporting folklore and history.
